Black Dog LED was founded in early 2010 to provide the best grow lights possible. Based in Boulder, Colorado, our staff have horticulture and electrical engineering degrees, with over 80 years of combined indoor growing experience.

We’re devoted to providing the best artificial grow lighting possible; to this end we are continuously running experimental grows, testing new technology and ideas to ensure our lights are the best you can buy.

We design and build our lights in Colorado, perform all warranty repair work at our office in Boulder, and provide exceptional customer service.

We are indoor gardening enthusiasts, and our passion for our work comes from the desire to create a quality product we want to use in our own gardens and our friends want to use in theirs. To accomplish this, we are pushing the limits of what is currently known about using artificial light to grow plants. Some of the research we are doing in BDL Labs, our research and development department, is being conducted for the first time ever. We are creating lights that, because of their combination of spectrum and power, are better for growing plants than anything produced before.

Our compact light design and high-intensity LEDs allow you to get any light intensity level (PPFD) you need, ensuring you can make the most of your available growing area. Our LEDs spread light out evenly over the entire footprint to ensure that plants growing on the edges don't suffer from a lack of light.

Beyond just delivering intensity, our unique Phyto-Genesis Spectrum controls how plants grow, directing more of their energy to producing flowers and fruit instead of stems and leaves. The ratio of different colors of light keeps the plants more compact, so you can fit more in your growing area. Ultraviolet and deep blue wavelengths in our lights provide superior canopy penetration, nourishing lower leaves and flowers so you can harvest more per square foot.
