“Light to live with“ – the motto gives a good description of our line of lamps, and has been an essential part of our corporate philosophy since the company was founded back in 1966.

Light brings our environment to life. In interior design, it is an independent element, also referred to as the fourth dimension of a room. Domus Licht Zum Wohnen GmbH stands for much more than simple lighting. The function of the lamp is, of course, taken for granted – so our efforts concentrate on the effect it has on the room and the people who live in it. DOMUS lamps have a distinctive quality – their light is pleasantly and soothing – they combine perfect function with the concept of man as the measure of all things.

We see ourselves as a manufacture, where high-quality products are built in accordance with the precepts of traditional craftsmanship. A DOMUS lamp is created by teamwork. From designers, wood experts, constructors and lighting planners to our employees, everyone is part of the process and brings his or her expertise to the table. This allows everyone to constantly keep the whole production chain – and the product itself – in view. DOMUS lamps offer lasting values. Their environmentally responsible and fair production has always been a matter of course for us. The issue of sustainability runs through all phases of development of our products. Rather than following current fashions to produce fast-moving items, we aim to create timeless classics.

Wherever possible, we rely on renewable natural raw materials. First and foremost, it is wood that runs through our entire collection. We use wood from controlled, sustainably managed forests, preferably from local sources. Instead of lacquer, we rely on vegetable oils and natural waxes to treat our products. All essential parts of our lamps are manufactured right here, in our own facility in Bad Münder. This guarantees fair labor conditions and environmentally sound short transport distances.

DOMUS lamps are made by people for people. With our state-of-the-art technical facilities as a basis, we still see ourselves as manufacturers, for whom our staff’s talents and craft skills are of paramount importance.

DOMUS lamps are developed in a teamwork approach. Designers, wood experts, design engineers, and lighting designers create products to serve their users. In doing so, they are not guided by short-lived trends, but committed to timeless, lasting lamp designs.

All essential elements of the lamps are produced at our own facilities. So every staff member in the production chain has the DOMUS lamp as a whole in his mind. All are working to create high quality, long-lived products from the very best of raw materials. The often filigree-like quality of the different components and wooden raw materials require skilled handicraft. Each individual lamp is hand-made and subsequently subjected to stringent quality controls, before the DOMUS quality label is attached to the lamp.
