Hammerton is a leading U.S. custom lighting designer and manufacturer, but like many notable businesses it started with two young men in a garage. One of those men, Levi Wilson, had grown up in his father's ornamental iron fabrication shop and had the art of metalcraft in his blood. The year was 1995. Since 1995, Hammerton has designed and built light fixtures for some of the biggest names in the hospitality industry. From large luxury resorts, casinos and premier restaurants to mid-tier hotels, clubs and senior living communities, we deliver lighting solutions that transform spaces into distinct and memorable experiences.
Hammerton got its foothold by serving the burgeoning second home market in nearby Park City, and word of the young upstart company spread fast. Hammerton quickly gained national recognition for creating unique fixtures that were not only beautifully crafted, but also perfectly proportioned and exquisitely detailed to each customer's unique specifications. Levi's obsession with uncompromising aesthetic and functional design, perfect scale and his '10-inch rule' — requiring each completed fixture to withstand a scrutinous eye from less than a foot away — were the guiding principles that attracted the attention of leading designers and architects and fueled the company's growth. Today, Hammerton fixtures can be found in luxury residences and leading hospitality properties around the world.
Hammerton has developed its design leadership position by expanding beyond steel to include artisan blown and cast glass, woven steel mesh, eco-resins, acrylics and crystal as well as aluminum, bronze, rawhide, mica, textiles and more. Over half of production includes some element of custom work — whether it’s scaling a catalog product to fit a particular space, incorporating customer-specified materials, or creating completely custom fixtures from scratch.
One of the first companies to combine old-world artisan techniques with modern design and manufacturing, Hammerton has made significant investments in technology, lean production and process innovation to become a leading provider of handcrafted custom lighting. We are proven experts in custom lighting design, craft-based engineering and artisan manufacturing. Our work ranges from one-off $100,000+ signature chandeliers weighing thousands of pounds to high-volume runs of sub $200 corridor sconces. 20% of our employees are industrial designers and engineers. Our artisan teams have decades of experience fabricating in a wide range of materials including blown, cast and kiln glass, metals, acrylics and more. Unlike most of our industry peers, 100% of operations take place under one roof, in our 50,000 sf Salt Lake City facility.
As a custom designer and manufacturer, centralized operations are foundational to our success. Design innovation is a cross functional discipline that requires continuous, real-time inputs from both internal and external sources. With engineering, manufacturing, sales and service teams all in one space we’re able to maintain tight end-to-end control of all quotation, submittal, design and production activities, and we ship most contract orders in just 6-9 weeks.
To accommodate the complex requirements of custom lighting, all of Hammerton operations are consolidated in the company's 50,000 sf facillty in Salt Lake City. This facilitates rapid quote turnaround, seamless project management and timely response to customer needs. Our goal is to provide an outstanding customer experience, and based on customer feedback, we do.
