Taking centerstage is EVIYOS® Shape, which received a CES Innovation Awards® Honoree award in the Smart Cities category. The product integrates 25,600 pixels into a single micro-LED chip array, a breakthrough that ensures exceptional color and brightness uniformity, as well as reduced power consumption. ams OSRAM previously developed EVIYOS® technology for the automotive industry and has now adapted it for other applications such as architainment, entertainment, machine vision and urban projection for smart cities. EVIYOS® Shape significantly improves safety in cities by illuminating pedestrian crosswalks, projecting warning symbols directly onto streets and creating interactive digital signs to promote public announcements and ads.
Driving the future of automotive innovation
The company will also feature the EVIYOS® HD 25 that is designed for automotive high-resolution dynamic forward lighting. EVIYOS® technology enables high-resolution Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) headlights by individually controlling thousands of pixels leading to reduced glare for other drivers when in high-beam mode. It dramatically improves road safety by increasing the time for drivers to react to hazards that are difficult to see, such as animals and pedestrians, with conventional headlights. EVIYOS® HD 25 features 25,600 pixels that are automatically driven by a dedicated ASIC, allowing the projection of high-resolution images and alerts on the road, as well as personalized messages.
Other automotive exhibits will include next-generation capacitive sensors, AS8579 and AS8580, in a vehicle door for touchless entry in all weather conditions. An AS5200L magnetic rotary proximity sensor, which is ideally suited for gear shift applications in hybrid, battery-powered and conventional vehicles. Two new architecture solutions relying on Open System Protocol (OSP) will be presented for both interior and exterior automotive lighting. The demonstrator will show ams OSRAM’s OSIRE® E3731i and Stand-Alone Intelligent Driver (SAID) using OSP license-free protocol to connect color LEDs, sensors and microcontrollers for unprecedented color accuracy and stability.
Redefining reality in AR
The company’s highly integrated RGB LEDs, lasers and drivers are behind the most advanced and lightweight Augmented Reality (AR) glasses. The new VEGALAS™ RGB laser module enables AR glasses that look like normal sun or prescription glasses. AR glasses use eye-tracking functionality to optimize user experience, which requires infrared (IR) illumination. Too much radiation from IR lighting is dangerous for the eyes. ams OSRAM is working on dedicated drivers that prevent over radiation and keep devices eye safe.

At CES 2025, a smart watch device will show how ams OSRAM’s complete portfolio including photodiodes, LEDs, Analog Front Ends (AFEs), temperature sensors and algorithms measure a growing list of vital signs – including heart rate, blood oxygen and breathing rate, skin temperature, and more.
Unlock automation at home and work
Optical force sensing for controlling lighting and building automation will open new opportunities for advanced control panel designs that are more sensitive, hygienic and cost-effective. The demonstrator will detect the position of touch using a slider or the force of touch through up/down pushbuttons to control the dimming of spotlights. Robotics and factory automation applications are assisted by a multizone direct Time of Flight (dToF) sensor. A new exhibit will illustrate how multiple dToF sensors can give a wider field of view for applications such as human presence detection, controlling appliances like air conditioners and helping robots navigate and identify obstacles.

Tips from OSRAM Automotive for safe driving in fog
Adjust your speed, drive defensively and keep your distance. Whenever visibility is poor you need to react quickly to unexpected situations, so it’s important to reduce your speed, drive defensively and keep sufficient distance from the vehicle in front. As a rule of thumb, if visibility is 50 meters or less, then the minimum distance to the vehicle in front should correspond to your speed in kilometers per hour – in other words, 50 km/h for 50 meters, 40 km/h for 40 meters, and so on.
Using fog lights: Fog lights are extremely useful in thick fog or snow because they illuminate the road better and improve visibility. However, they must not dazzle other road users, so they should only be used when visibility is poor due to weather conditions, otherwise you may be fined. And as soon as visibility is less than 50 meters the speed limit drops to 50 kilometers an hour or less. Only then should you also switch on your rear fog lights.

EVIYOS® thus contributes to improving the communication between the vehicle and its surrounding environment. Innovations in the field of sensor technology have also enabled groundbreaking progress: fitted with next-generation capacitive sensors, a vehicle door handle provides the proximity and touch/grip functionality of the ams OSRAM technology. In the field of interior lighting, ams OSRAM will showcase two new architecture solutions relying on the Open System Protocol (OSP): a STAR architecture based on the new Stand-Alone-Intelligent Driver (SAID) and a GATEWAY architecture enabling the real-time transmission of video images to 600 RGB-LED OSIRE® E3731i via ETHERNET/OSP gateways. In this field, ams OSRAM will present a new, intelligent project at electronica 2024: EVIYOS® Shape, a product based on EVIYOS® technology, is now being used for the first time in applications outside the automotive sector. EVIYOS® Shape is a cutting-edge, µLED-based light source designed for architainment, entertainment and machine vision applications, as well as for urban projection scenarios creating new visions for smart cities. As a first joint customer project, the ams OSRAM partner ELEPN showcased the brand-new MLP300 at the 25th China International Optoelectronic Exposition (CIOE). This micro-LED smart projector was developed by ELEPN, a provider of micro projection modules, and will also be enriched with the groundbreaking LED innovation EVIYOS® Shape from ams OSRAM. The LED will be launched on the market at the beginning of 2025.
High-precision current and voltage measurement to increase the efficiency of battery solutions
With its high-precision current sensors AS8510 and AS8512, ams OSRAM makes it possible to design battery systems more efficiently and provide more accurate information about the residual battery capacity (state of charge). The measurement is conducted in combination with a shunt resistor and is used for a wide range of battery solutions in the industrial and automotive sectors. Thanks to the sensors' special measurement principle, ams OSRAM enables measurement without zero-point displacement, making it easier for customers to integrate the technology since compensation is no longer necessary. The demo setup at electronica illustrates how measurements are performed with the AS8510 and AS8512 sensors and visitors can see for themselves the added value that ams OSRAM thus contributes to battery systems.

Combined with outstanding wall plug efficiency, this optimized system solution has been specifically designed for customers in the UV-C disinfection market.

The enhanced performance of the OSLON® UV 3535 LEDs is attributed to innovations in package design and semiconductor technology using the latest flip-chip generation in an open 3535 ceramic package. The AlGaN-based flip chip is a more multifaceted radiation source than traditional UV-C sources, offering flexibility in wavelength, output power and instant-on functionality. Its open package design and integrated frame technology increase efficiency while reducing costs. The highly reflective frame improves light outcoupling and forward-directed radiation, positioning these products on a strong performance trajectory in the rapidly growing UV-C market.
The advantages of UV-C LED sources
UV-C LED technology is changing the way we purify and disinfect air, surfaces and water in a variety of applications. Our unique portfolio combines highly efficient UV-C emitters and spectral sensors with highly accurate presence detectors, ensuring exposure to UV-C light at the right doses only when and where required.
To cite just one example: water can be disinfected in a UV-C LED reactor directly at the entry point to a building and only if needed. Instant on/off and switching capability of the UV-C source are essential as the reactor must respond immediately to the water requests of several users.
The point source feature of UV-C LEDs enables collimated beams, reducing losses and enhancing photon utilization, thus making them particularly effective for air and surface treatment applications. A study conducted by the University of Liverpool impressively demonstrated that UV-C LED technology achieves the same level of system performance as traditional mercury lamps in air treatment devices but requires significantly lower UV-C radiation from the source.
With the launch of the first generation of the EVIYOS™ multipixel LED for Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB) and projection headlamps in 2023, ams OSRAM gave drivers a new way of experiencing the road at night. The EVIYOS™ was first implemented by Volkswagen in its Touareg and Tiguan models equipped with headlamps manufactured by Marelli, each of which featuring 19,200 pixels, whereas the EVIYOS™ light source itself can provide up to 25,600 individually controllable pixels.
Intelligent EVIYOS™ -based headlamps substantially improve the night driving experience, lighting up much more of the road ahead without dazzling the drivers of oncoming vehicles. The EVIYOS™ LED can also be used to project symbols and pictures on the road, opening up new potential for car-to-environment communication, mainly for safety warnings and other messages.
Excitement about this innovative technology has been growing ever since its launch as the automotive industry explores the potential for multipixel LEDs to take ADB headlamps into a new era of light. The new ADB headlamps bring new features to Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and enable car manufacturers to create distinctive new design and styling effects in the front of the car.
Now ams OSRAM is enhancing the appeal of the EVIYOS™ LED still further with the release of EVIYOS HD 25 gen2. Development of the multipixel LED and progress in implementing the ams OSRAM roadmap continue apace.
The release of EVIYOS HD 25 gen2 introduces some valuable improvements that ams OSRAM has made in response to market requirements. These include:
- Enhanced brightness specification – the original EVIYOS HD 25 gen1 produces a typical brightness of 85 MNits. In the new EVIYOS HD 25 gen2 product, this specification has been improved to a minimum brightness of 85 MNits.
- Reduced stray light emission, making the headlamp’s optical system easier to design and manufacture.
- A more resilient supply chain – using ams OSRAM in-house capabilities will ensure the continuous supply and high quality of the companion ASIC which controls the LED component.
Development roadmap gives customers a robust schedule
The rapid pace of development of the enhanced product features in EVIYOS HD 25 gen2, hardly a year after the launch of the first product in the EVIYOS™ product family, reflects a strong commitment at ams OSRAM to the roadmap that it has shared with the automotive industry.
The release of EVIYOS HD 25 gen2 is consistent with this roadmap. It will be followed by further product announcements and introductions in the coming years, including a version of the EVIYOS™ LED for low-end and mid-range vehicles.
Alongside the program of new product introductions, ams OSRAM will be announcing new customer design wins: while Volkswagen was the first to take advantage of the high-resolution projection capability of the EVIYOS™ LED, other car manufacturers are following close on its heels, benefiting from the strong customer appeal of a headlamp which improves night-time vision and road safety while providing greater freedom to shape the appearance of the vehicle and enable the creation of unique design signatures such as welcome home/leave home ‘light carpets’ and distinctive front styling.
The innovations introduced in the EVIYOS™ LED technology have also been recognized by the federal government of Germany, which in September 2024 nominated ams OSRAM for the German Future Award – Federal President's Award for Technology and Innovation. The EVIYOS™ engineering team was named as one of three finalists in the race for the coveted award following a multi-stage assessment process. The ams OSRAM engineers named in the award citation are Dr Norwin von Malm, Senior Director New Technologies, and Stefan Groetsch, who leads the System Solution Engineering team, alongside Dr Hermann Oppermann from the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM in Berlin.

By applying heat and pressure in the FFB post-mold, hot stamping process, ALIYOS™ LED foils are integrated behind various covers. Combined with surface decoration via IMD, the result is unparalleled design flexibility, enabling light to emerge from surfaces in ways never before possible, unlocking new opportunities for the automotive lighting industry.
Enriched with the FFB and IMD technologies, the ALIYOS™ demonstrator showcases four distinct, ultra-thin light panels, each featuring unique surface designs and lighting effects. EVIYOS® technology to break through to industrial applications for the first time, enabling a new vision for smart cities
ams OSRAM and its partners will jointly launch an all-new smart projection product: based on ams OSRAM's automotive-grade EVIYOS® technology, this groundbreaking product will now be applied in the industrial field for the first time. The so called EVIYOS Shape is an advanced µLED-based light source that enables various non-automotive applications in the field of architainment, entertainment, machine vision and various urban projection scenarios.
TMF8806 direct Time-of-Flight (dToF) sensor module: previously unimaginable application scenarios are now on the horizon
The new generation of TMF8806 dToF sensors revolutionizes the perception boundaries of space-constrained applications thanks to its ultra-low-power innovations, high precision, ultra-fast response time, and extreme compactness. With a 24° Field of View (FoV), the TMF8806 provides precise distances by accurately measuring the transmission and reception times of ultrashort light pulses. Furthermore, it features an enhanced single-zone detection function; the detection range can be extended from 1 cm to 2.5 m in standard mode, and to even 5 m in long-range mode.
But this is by far not all: ams OSRAM will launch new IR LED and blue laser products in the near future, and will also present its LiDAR-based robotic visualization technology in-cabin sensing, sign monitoring and other leading products that are closely related to societal megatrends. A special feature of OSRAM’s attendance at the fair will be a press event including a live demonstration of how to fit the new NIGHT BREAKER® LED as well as product demonstrations on September 10 and 11 at 15:00 and 11:00 respectively.
OSRAM NIGHT BREAKER® LED SPEED H7: the latest LED retrofit lamp
With its new OSRAM NIGHT BREAKER® LED SPEED H7, OSRAM is not only adding to its popular family of LED retrofit lamps but also expanding the list of compatible vehicle models. Designed as a replacement for traditional H7 lamps and bases, the OSRAM NIGHT BREAKER® LED SPEED H7 is quick and easy to install thanks to its special geometry, which is almost identical to that of a conventional halogen lamp so there is no need for adapters or caps. This extremely practical plug-and-play type of installation has been made possible primarily by incorporating a very small fan to ensure innovative thermal management and therefore stable luminous flux and uniform light distribution. The bright white light with a color temperature of up to 6000 Kelvin ensures better visibility for drivers and other road users – not least thanks to the 50 percent reduction in glare². Six-times longer service life in combination with a 60 percent reduction in energy consumption³ makes the new LED lamp an eco-friendly and cost-effective retrofit solution.
OSRAM XENARC NIGHT BREAKER 220: the most powerful xenon lamp in the portfolio
The OSRAM XENARC NIGHT BREAKER 220 has the brightest light of all the company’s xenon lamps. This highly efficient retrofit product delivers up to 220 percent greater brightness and up to 20 percent whiter light than the minimum legal requirements. The lamps produce a beam of up to 250 meters in length and optimized light distribution. The overall improved illumination allows drivers to see further and react to obstacles sooner. The OSRAM XENARC NIGHT BREAKER 220 is available for cars and commercial vehicles in D1S, D2S, D3S and D4S versions and comes with a three-year guarantee⁴.
Elegantly curved: OSRAM LEDriving® Curved Lightbar VX1000-CB SR SM
The OSRAM LEDriving® Curved Lightbar VX1000-CB SR SM additional headlight gives drivers excellent visibility on dark country roads and poorly lit urban streets. Thanks to its stylish curved aluminum housing, the street-approved Lightbar perfectly matches the design of modern vehicles. Its versatile mounting means it can be fitted in many different locations, such as on the fender or on the radiator grille. The combo beam, developed for far-field and near-field illumination, the 36 particularly durable high-power LEDs, the impressive range of up to 525 meters, a luminous flux of 6600 lumens and a daylight color temperature of 6000 Kelvin provide optimum illumination on and at the sides of the road. The OSRAM LEDriving® Curved Lightbar VX1000-CB SR SM has a two-year guarantee⁵. Its ECE certification means that it is no longer necessary to install these products in pairs.
Shining light in the darkest of spaces: OSRAM LEDINSPECT® FLEXIBLE INSPECTION LIGHT – LEDIL416
OSRAM also has some exciting products for the workshop. The OSRAM LEDinspect® FLEXIBLE INSPECTION LIGHT is the company’s most versatile inspection light because it can be positioned exactly where it is needed, all thanks to the fully flexible LED strip and the removable elastic straps with hooks, which can be extended up to 2.1 meters. There are strong magnets at each end of the strip which can be rotated through 160 degrees, making it easy to attach the strip to the chassis or engine compartment. The inspection light has a two-year guarantee⁶, three brightness levels of 100, 400 and 1000 lumens, and a red light. It can be recharged via a USB-C port and has a battery life of up to 20 hours.
When the juice runs out: the OSRAM BATTERYjumpstart series
You’ve packed the car and everyone is belted up and ready to go. You turn the ignition key ... and the engine won’t start. Not to worry, as instant help is at hand in the form of OSRAM's practical and particularly compact starters for vehicles with petrol engines up to six liters or with diesel engines up to three liters. And thanks to the boost function, it will start a car even when the batteries are completely discharged. Delivering up to 1500 amps, they are suitable for most 12V cars, vans, SUVs and light commercial vehicles. The ergonomic Smart Clamp connector has long cables for better accessibility and various safety features. Reverse polarity protection, overvoltage protection and short-circuit protection prevent accidents and incorrect use. Each of the four versions has a power bank function, USB-C and USB-A ports and an integrated flashlight. Particularly noteworthy is the BATTERYjumpstart 1000TI – OJS020TI, because this product has a large display and an integrated pump that can be used to inflate tires from zero to 2.4 bar in less than 3.5 minutes.
ams OSRAM Automotive commits to sustainable packaging
ams OSRAM is working hard to improve sustainability by continually developing its products to achieve greater energy savings and longer service lives. In line with its commitment to the responsible use of finite resources, ams OSRAM Automotive has now also begun to replace the packaging for its entire retrofit lamp portfolio in the automotive lighting sector with eco-friendly alternatives. The new cartons are 100 percent plastic-free. They are made of recycled materials and are fully recyclable.
LEDVANCE to remain exclusive licensee of the OSRAM brand for lamps in general lighting. In addition, the licensing partnership will be expanded to include luminaires in general lighting outside of P.R. China.
ams OSRAM and LEDVANCE have agreed to continue their trademark licensing partnership for general lighting lamps beyond 2026 and well into the next decade. They have further announced that their cooperation will be expanded to include general lighting luminaires outside of mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao, forging a unique partnership. Both parties have agreed not to disclose any financial details of the transaction.
Since 2016, LEDVANCE has been the exclusive licensing partner for the OSRAM and SYLVANIA brands in the field of general lighting lamps. The success of this partnership has led to the early extension and expansion of the licensing agreement for the OSRAM brand while the license for the SYLVANIA trademark in the US and Canada remains in force. With the continued exclusive license to use the OSRAM brand for lamps and the extension to modern luminaires outside of the P.R. China, LEDVANCE and ams OSRAM strengthen their unique global partnership in general lighting. Consumers can expect to find innovative OSRAM-branded luminaires in stores and online very soon.
