Astera LED Technology

Rain, dust or snow - QuikSpot’s IP65 design can handle it all. QuikSpot comes in rainproof housing so you can use it anywhere without worry, whether for outdoor events or your other projects!

QuikSpot is a battery-driven uplight, a precise zoomable Fresnel and a versatile, compact spotlight. With seamless integration into the Astera ecosystem, it’s the technician’s best friend, always ready to run and tackle any job.

Optimized battery runtime

Delivering 4.5 hours of maximum runtime with OutputGain activated, QuikSpot offers the best size-to-output wireless performance in its class. Charging and prepping is also extremely easy with the battery-driven PrepBox and its ChargingPlate.

Efficient optical design

QuikSpot’s lens system is specifically designed for maximum brightness, while working as a high-quality Fresnel. Use it as a hard spotlight, flood it for wide angle coverage, use filters to shape the beam or attach the SafetyLink-ready Barndoors for precise cuts.

Rigging made easy

Whether hung or on the floor, QuikSpot is ready to rock: focus it with the removeable Yoke or angle it with the integrated Kickstand, mount a pin in the back or add a TrackPin Compact to the airline track, attach a third-party clamp or use a FlexCover to blend the fixture into the surroundings.

QuikTurn

As simple as it seems. Adjust QuikSpot’s beam angle from 13º to 60º by simply turning the barrel. QuikTurn will stop at 30º to indicate that you are in the middle of the zoom range.

Barndoors with SafetyLink

No need for extra safety wires for your accessories: The precise 8-way Barndoor can rotate 360º while the integrated SafetyLink is attached to the QuikSpot’s housing.

Rotatable elliptical filter

While QuikSpot is designed to hold all existing AX5 filters and front attachments, it works especially well with the Rotatable 17º x 46º Elliptical Filter.

Removeable Yoke; foldable feet

On the floor or in the truss: the removeable Yoke is a very versatile attachment for tilt adjustment, it has two foldable feet, and it comes with an inbuilt airline track. And yes, you can mount or release QuikSpot’s yoke in a matter of seconds.

KickStand

To angle an elegant uplight has never been so easy. QuikSpot integrates our popular KickStand in the back of the housing for tilt focusing when no yoke is used.

TrackPin Compact

Designed to reduce QuikSpot’s height when using the yoke, the TrackPin Compact is a small and lightweight rigging accessory for the inbuilt airline track. The TrackPin Compact is especially useful when combined with third-party SuperClamps.

3/8" Thread

This pin-ready thread in the back of QuikSpot minimizes the visual impact on those installations where a yoke is not needed, offering an alternative mounting method for gobo heads or low-profile clamps.

FlexCovers

FlexCovers are the best solution for corporate events where luminaries must be integrated into the environment. Made out of a flexible, lightweight material and attached via velcro, FlexCovers are available in White and Mirror looks.

The easiest way to recharge

On stage, in the truck, or for location use: the ChargingPlate is the perfect companion to QuikSpot. Charge the batteries of up to 8 QuikSpots with a single TRUE1 cable, directly in the case. QuikSpot’s ChargingPlate is fully compatible with PrepBox and can also charge your AX5 TriplePAR fixtures.

The fastest way to prep

PrepBox was made to let you assign DMX in seconds, to blue-mode and pair up to 8 QuikSpots at once, to configure dimming and color in multiple devices without a controller. Thanks to its inbuilt battery, PrepBox powers up all the QuikSpots in your ChargingPlate with a single switch, saving time and effort. The PrepBox’s OLED display will work in combination with the integrated Astera button on each QuikSpot, allowing individual configuration or multiple selection of fixtures.

Built-in CRMX

QuikSpot includes LumenRadio’s wireless DMX and RDM, ensuring seamless integration with lighting consoles and other standard controllers. The DMX patch is extremely easy to configure: assign profiles, starting addresses and fixture numbers in no time via the PrepBox or the AsteraApp.
Astera – a leading developer of innovative light solutions for film, event and TV markets – will be using their attendance at NAB 2024 (Booth C.6345) to demonstrate how their comprehensive portfolio of lights operates together to form a complete ecosystem for lighting engineers; offering them greater creative scope and an efficient way to light a diverse range of production contexts.

Astera’s innovations focus on replicating the traditional lighting types that form the backbone of any gaffer’s lighting repertoire, but in a way that leverages the benefits of LED technology to deliver lighting with lower power draw, higher output strength, precise colour control, lightweight profile, wireless installation and full creative flexibility. In addition, Astera have incorporated a range of auxiliary add-ons into the range, such as the RunTimeExtender and a suite of mounting brackets, which allow lighting engineers to make use of their existing equipment – such as battery packs and racks – to further increase the versatility of their setup, whilst reducing overall costs.

Front-and-centre of their NAB display will be the LeoFresnel and PlutoFresnel, along with the latter’s ProjectionLens expansion. With both lights maintaining a Beam Angle between 15° and 60°, they respectively generate a 300W and 1000W Tungsten-equivalent output with only an 80W and 250W draw. This makes both lights ideal for operation in any context where traditional Fresnels would usually be deployed, but reduces the weight, heat and energy-draw associated with conventional Tungsten lights. Furthermore, the addition of a Profile Spotlight lens attachment for the PlutoFresnel makes the light even more versatile, delivering a powerful beam with a range of 16° to 36° and the ability to fit an E-size Gobo for custom logo projection. As with all of Astera’s lights, the focus is on creating lights that are quick to set up, easy to use and adjust, and robust and flexible in their application.

Also on display will be the HydraPanel – a portable, powerful 1300 lumen light that fits in the palm of your hand. Weighing just 600g and with a runtime of just under two hours, the HydraPanel is watertight, robust, and can be combined with additional Hydrapanels or a Multifit Snapbag, making it suitable for almost any application. The range is further complimented by the Titan Tube, the NYX bulb, and a range of lightweight and flexible uplights, including the PixelBrick and AX series.

Key to Astera’s holistic approach is the fact that their entire lighting portfolio is underpinned by their unique Titan LED engine, which powers the lights and ensures absolute colour fidelity and lighting consistency. By using the same engine across the range and incorporating Wireless DMX, CRMX and BluetoothBridge connectivity, Astera products can be seamlessly integrated together and controlled from a single point; either through the Astera app, or Astera’s range of physical remotes – including the FX and White remote. The result is a comprehensive lighting system which contains everything a lighting engineer could need, whilst also allowing them to make use of much of their existing inventory and customize their workflow according to individual preference and operational context.

Speaking of their upcoming NAB attendance, Sebastian Bückle – Sales and Marketing Director for Astera – said: “As a German company, our presence within the European market is already well established, so we particularly enjoy NAB and the opportunity it gives us to further cement our foothold in the American market. This year has been particularly successful for us in relation to the industry recognition we’ve achieved; a number of high-profile lighting engineers have spoken publicly about the respect they have for our range and our innovative, holistic approach to lighting solutions. We look forward to talking about these case studies with visitors to the stand, and exploring how we can help individual lighting engineers with their own specific needs and contexts”.

Astera to Showcase its Lighting Innovations at NAB 2024
A radiant end of the month that for the Astera team culminates with the launch of our new Fresnel series of lights: the compact PlutoFresnel and the larger LeoFresnel. Both offerings serve to plug a significant gap in the market, namely, the current lack of effective LED-based Fresnel lighting. By developing LED lights specifically for integration with a Fresnel lens, Astera aims to provide all of the benefits of LED – including lower power draw, higher output strength, precise colour control, lightweight profile and full installation/application flexibility – whilst still providing lighting technicians with the specific creative qualities associated with Fresnel lighting, particularly in relation to portrait work and the replication of daylight settings.
