During the last GreenTech edition, Heliospectra launched a new 1500-watt lighting fixture specifically designed for professional greenhouse farming. The company has taken a step forward in energy efficiency and light management with the Mitra X series, said Joost van Rooij, Heliospectra sales manager. "Thanks to high-quality components from top suppliers, this luminaire is a perfect top light, with the well-known spectrum distribution of 90-5-5."
Designed for modern greenhouse farming
The development of the Mitra X series is based on the requirements of modern greenhouse horticulture. "We have taken into account the infrastructure of modern greenhouses where the luminaire can be easily suspended from the trellis with optimal light distribution," Joost explains. The luminaires are available in configurations with multiple light modules, combined with a separate power supply unit (PSU).
"By distributing the light modules over multiple trellises, each lighting plan can be precisely tailored to the greenhouse and the crop. This flexibility allows us to always achieve the perfect light intensity and distribution."
OpticsGrowPro
A key feature of the Mitra X series is the use of Optics technology. "This technology provides the best light distribution currently available on the market. By optimizing the quality-price balance, we offer growers a luminaire that excels in performance while requiring a low investment per mmol," says Van Rooij.
The cost-efficiency of the Mitra X is further enhanced by the fact that the luminaires are dimmable and controllable via the HelioCORE software. Moreover, they can be integrated with well-known climate computers such as Hoogendoorn, Priva, and Ridder via standard horticultural protocols. "One of the main advantages is that the fixtures can be controlled wirelessly, which means that growers do not have to do any additional cabling or adjustments to existing systems. This not only saves time but also avoids additional investment costs."
HelioCORE with dynamic zoning
The HelioCORE software offers growers extensive options for optimizing light in their greenhouses. One feature is the ability to set up dynamic zones and adjust them easily. "This is particularly useful when a part of the crop needs to be exposed longer than the rest of the greenhouse," he says. Through HelioCORE, the luminaires can also be dimmed, resulting in energy savings for the grower."
Another tool within HelioCORE is the DLI manager (Daily Light Integral). "This allows growers to set a desired DLI after which the software, combined with the local online weather forecast, determines how much to dim the light. This leads to optimal production and maximum energy savings by using the lighting only where and when it is needed."
Besides communicating with the luminaire, the HelioCORE also gets information back from the PSU. "This gives you insight into the PSU's temperature, burning hours, and power consumption. Another interesting possibility is to get a heatmap of the PSU's ambient temperature by using an external sensor. This allows users to quickly see where the hotspots are in a greenhouse."
"With the introduction of the Mitra X series, Heliospectra is once again setting a new standard in lighting technology for greenhouse farming. Combining high-quality components, advanced light distribution technology, and user-friendly software, the company offers growers a powerful tool to optimize their light management. The modular design, wireless control, and integration with existing climate computers ensure maximum flexibility while minimizing cost per mmol."
"Thanks to innovations such as the HelioCORE software and the DLI manager, growers can not only improve crop quality but also optimize their energy consumption, resulting in significant savings. It proves once again that Heliospectra is at the forefront of developing sustainable and efficient solutions for greenhouse farming."
