International automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA has launched an aerodynamic rear wing lighting for the full electric SUV LYNK & CO Z20 (LYNK & CO 02 in Europe) for the Chinese new energy vehicle brand LYNK & CO. This rear lamp incorporates an ultra-long overhang wing design, not only creating a highly three-dimensional and differentiated aesthetic appearance but also significantly enhancing the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle. The rear wing lighting, the first solution of its kind of FORVIA HELLA, has entered series production in September this year. It is both developed and produced locally in China.

The innovative rear wing lighting from FORVIA HELLA adopts a highly integrated design concept in terms of functionality. It offers optimal aerodynamic performance for the entire vehicle through its ultra-long overhang design, combining rear lamps and vehicle wingsr into one, in addition to regulatory rear lamp functions such as direction indicators, stop indicators, reversing lights, fog lamps, taillights, and side markers. The cover of the rear lamp protrudes outward by 130 mm, creating a more ideal angle for the rear of the car compared to metal materials, thereby optimizing aerodynamic performance, effectively reducing wind resistance, and further improving vehicle stability and energy efficiency.
In terms of design, the rear wing lighting features a continuous design that come across the entire rear of the vehicle, forming a coherent and smooth light strip that seamlessly blends with the vehicle body. Especially during welcome and leaving home scenarios, its dynamic lighting animation greatly enhances the visual appeal of the entire vehicle. This rear lamp design continues the family design language of LYNK & CO, while giving the appearance a stronger 3D outlook, making the rear styling of the car more recognizable.

JIMCO 1600 CLASS BUGGY
As one of the leading off-road experts, Jimco Racing celebrates 50 years as one of the sport's premier builders with the launch of its all-new 1-2/1600 Desert Buggy. Intended to complement its existing range of racing vehicles while returning the company's Limited Class roots, the innovative Jimco N-spec two-seat chassis was designed to offer racers a more affordable way to eat dirt.
The custom chassis will be powered by a proven1600cc Volkswagen air-cooled powerplant from Jimenez Racing Engines and mated to a modified Volkswagen gearbox built by California Performance Transmission.

ROTEK RACING PORSCHE 718 CAYMAN GT4 RS CLUBSPORT
HELLA partnered with Rotek Racing in 2022 and this year the team swept the board in both the Pirelli GT America and GT4 America road racing championships. The team uses Porsche factory built and prepared Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport cars, which clearly gave them an advantage this year. In fact, Rotek won a total of four championships, taking the driver and team titles in both classes.
Isaac Sherman drove in GT America and scored 13 wins plus three podiums, while Robb Holland and Jaden Lander secured four wins and two additional podiums to claim the GT4 honors.

The internationally positioned automotive supplier HELLA is offering a new work lamp series suitable for agricultural machinery, construction machinery, forklifts, trucks and trailers as well as municipal vehicles. The S-series complements existing work lamp families with optimised versions. "The central goal was to develop a high-quality yet affordable LED work lamp. To this end, our many years of experience and lighting expertise have been incorporated into the development in order to bring a product onto the road that is optimised in every respect and is "simple, steady and streamlined", says Stefan Maierhofer, the product manager responsible for work lamps at HELLA. "As a result, the new work lamps are easy to retrofit, consistently stand up to operating conditions and offer excellent value for money."
Since the new launch in summer 2022, many work lamps are now available in the S-series: be it the Module 70, the Power Beam, the Module 90, the Ultra Beam or the Oval 100. The S-series consists of round, oval and square lamps, as well as surface and flush mounting variants. The work lamps of the S-series are available for vehicle manufacturers in a close-range and a long-range illumination. Some variants offer additional illumination options such as diffuse flood or extra-wide illumination.
The lamps of the Module 70 S-series and Power Beam S-series are available in a 1,150 lumen variant, as well as a 1,850 lumen variant. The Oval 100 S-series is available with a light output of 1,850 lumens as well. In addition to the 1,850 lumen variant, there is also a powerful 4,000 lumen variant of the Module 90 S-series. The work lamp Ultra Beam S-series impresses with its outstanding 4,400 lumens. The LED work lamp series is complemented by two reverse lamps: Power Beam S-series reverse lamp and Module 70 S-series reverse lamp.
Another plus: To meet increased design demands, the S-series is also available as a "Black Edition" with an attractive black design. Thanks to the different designs, illumination and light output variants of the S-series, the right lamp can be found for every requirement.
The work lamps of the S-series provide homogeneous illumination with a light colour similar to daylight. The colour temperature is around 6,500 Kelvin. Compared to halogen units, the S-series scores with high efficiency due to its excellent lumen-watt performance. The highest EMC requirements are met throughout. An additional advantage: Vehicle manufacturers have the option of using the product to give their vehicles an individual appearance. Because the respective company logo can be integrated into the reflector if desired.
Thanks to the universal and slim design, vehicle manufacturers can easily and quickly convert existing halogen headlamps to LED technology. The work lamps are produced in Austria according to the latest technological standards. The housing and also the cover lens are made of special plastics, which on the one hand lead to a weight reduction and on the other hand have a high corrosion resistance. The new cooling fin design is not only modern, but also ensures optimum heat dissipation, thus increasing the efficiency and service life of the work lamps. The latter is also further increased by integrated thermal management. The work lamps provide their full light output between -40°C and +50°C ambient temperature. If there is a risk of overheating, the work lamp is automatically dimmed.
Global automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA has brought an RGB LED rear combination lamp with full-color light animations into series production in China for the first time. It boasts a variety of new light-based functionalities and thus addresses the increasing demand for new opportunities for brand differentiation and personalization. The RGB LED rear combination lamp is used in the new luxury C-class sedan Z10 of LYNK & CO, a brand of the car manufacturer Geely Auto Group (collectively referred to as “Geely”). The electric vehicle has been available in the Chinese market since 5 September 2024.
The RGB LED rear combination lamp that FORVIA HELLA has developed for LYNK & CO can generate a total of 256 different color variants from the three basic shades of red, green and blue, thus creating not only dynamic but also multi-colored lighting animations. In addition to welcome/goodbye scenarios, this also includes colored animations after locking the vehicle, during the charging process or as a burglar alarm. The legally prescribed light functions, such as tail light and brake light, position light and indicator light, are thus not only realized in purely functional terms. Specially developed 3D optical elements in the light enable a particularly striking light signature and unmistakable aesthetics for the rear of the vehicle.
"In the Asian automotive market in particular, the importance of individualization and brand differentiation is constantly increasing. In this context, the lighting design plays a central role," says Yves Andres, Managing Director Lighting at FORVIA HELLA. "RGB LED technology has long been established in vehicle interior lighting. By transferring this technology to exterior lighting, we are creating an entirely new customer experience that allows car manufacturers to differentiate themselves in the market and gives end consumers a technological platform to realize their own lighting design and vehicle appearance. The series production of an RGB rear combination lamp for our customer Geely therefore shows once again that we have a leading position with regard to the major automotive market trends, anticipate local customer requirements and offer customized product solutions."
The international automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA has received several major orders from a leading US car manufacturer. This includes various projects for both electronics and lighting. In total, the order intake amounts to over two billion euros. The customer projects will be launched within the next two to four years in the Mexican production network of FORVIA HELLA.

Customer projects include a further major series order for the digital vehicle access system Smart Car Access. With this vehicle access system based on ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, end users can open and close the car completely hands-free and start the engine without having to pick up their smartphone. The UWB technology protects the vehicle against relay attacks by means of high-precision runtime measurement, i.e. the opening of a vehicle by radio extension. In addition to localization via UWB, this project also uses Bluetooth Channel Sounding for short-range communication – a new BTLE technology standard that also supports the localization of a smartphone or smart key on the basis of intelligent algorithms. The second electronics order is a large-volume package for lighting electronics, the largest single order in this product group to date.
In addition, from the Business Group Lighting, FORVIA HELLA will bring the first ever Front Phygital Shield into series production in the American region. The Front Phygital Shield – a highly integrated module for the front of the vehicle – comprises both mechanical-structural as well as complex design surfaces. The illuminated logo that characterizes the brand and other lighting functions, including welcome and goodbye animations, are integrated into this. The Front Phygital Shield is 1.8 meters long in total and therefore covers the entire width of the front of the vehicle. This also makes it Company-wide the largest product of its kind. The additional lighting projects for which FORVIA HELLA has now been nominated include a combination of slim LED headlamps and an illuminated radiator grille, as well as series orders for rear combination lamps and fog lamps.

The international automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA is launching a new work lamp for vehicles in mining, construction and forestry: the RokLUME 280N SMART allows machine operators to customise the work lighting to suit their individual needs and lighting conditions. The lighting system is controlled via a gateway. Data is transmitted via Powerline Communication (PLC), which ensures reliable data transmission.

Smart functions for individual light settings
"With the RokLUME 280N SMART, we are revolutionising work lighting," says Stefan Maierhofer, Head of Product Management Worklights at FORVIA HELLA. "Never before has it been possible to adjust work lighting more specifically and adapt it to different working conditions and needs." For example, the driver can choose between two different light colours. The field test with customers such as vehicle manufacturers and mine operators showed that an amber or green light colour improves visibility in fog, rain, snow and dust. "The colour change can increase visibility in many different situations and enables fatigue-free working. This reduces downtime and increases safety, as the working environment is easier to recognise," says Maierhofer.
In addition to the colour, the colour temperature of the RokLUME 280N SMART can also be continuously adjusted from warm white to cool white. This reduces self-glare and eye fatigue. The light can also be dimmed depending on the current lighting conditions. If the work lamps are used as daytime running lights, this function reduces power consumption and therefore CO2 emissions at the same time.
Easy upgrade to the intelligent system
If the RokLUME 280N SMART is retrofitted, the functions are controlled via a control panel. The memory function in the control panel ensures greater productivity at work. It can be used to save up to three individual light settings for the work lamps. At the touch of a button, the machine operator can select their personalised light settings. Operation is intuitive and the buttons are dimensioned so that they can be easily operated even when wearing gloves. For original equipment manufacturers, operation via the Human Machine Interface (HMI) can be integrated. The gateway uses the CAN bus J1939 protocol to communicate with the customer's HMI.
Another advantage of the RokLUME 280N SMART: the work lamp communicates via Powerline Communication (PLC). This means that no additional wiring harnesses are required for control. The vehicle's existing harness architecture can simply be used for commissioning and installation. Wired communication allows long distances to be bridged efficiently and even metal-protected areas can be reached with consistent transmission quality. The central control unit “gateway” controls each work lamp via PLC and can thus set the work lighting to suit the ambient conditions. In contrast to wireless technologies such as Bluetooth, communication with the work lamp is also thanks to PLC.
The RokLUME 280N SMART is available in six different illumination variants: with long-range, close-range, pencil beam, diffuse flood, tunnel flood or ZEROGLARE illumination. The work lamp is also equipped with a lifetime warning. This means that the system warns in good time before the service life of the work lamp expires, thus preventing unplanned downtime. Anti-theft protection is also integrated. If this feature is activated, the work lamp will not work on other machines.
The international automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA today announced structural measures aiming at making the lighting production at the Lippstadt site competitive for the future. This includes specializing the portfolio on producing the most innovative headlamp technologies as well as a respective downsizing of the plant.
This is due to structural changes in the European market environment, which are primarily caused by a significantly lower vehicle production, a persistently high cost level and changing customer and supplier structures. "These changes are fundamental, and we expect them to continue in the longer term. They are deteriorating the already very challenging economic situation for the lighting production in Lippstadt," says Yves Andres, Managing Director of the business group Lighting at FORVIA HELLA. "Despite intensive efforts in recent years, it has not been possible to lift the plant to a competitive level. As a result, we are no longer able to generate sufficient profitable new business for the plant. We therefore need to specialize the lighting production in Lippstadt in terms of technology, increase productivity levels and reduce the overall cost base."
Focus on the most innovative headlamp solutions
It is planned to focus the site on the production of the most innovative headlamp solutions. New projects for other product groups (rear combination lamps, interior and car body lighting) will no longer be allocated to the plant and current series and post-series production of these product groups will be relocated successively.
"This specialization is part of our general strategy to gradually focus the lighting plants worldwide on one product group. Therewith, we want to drive standardization forward. This will allow us to significantly increase the quantities produced per line and to improve the competitiveness of our production through economies of scale," says Yves Andres.
The realignment of the lighting production in Lippstadt also makes an adjustment of the personnel structure necessary. It results from the relocation of current projects, but also from planned measures to generally increase productivity and reduce overcapacity. Overall, it is planned to reduce around 420 permanent staff positions in the lighting production at the Lippstadt site. The adjustments in personnel shall be implemented as socially responsible as possible by mid-2026 at the latest. Talks with the employee representatives will begin soon.
"We know that this is a tough decision. However, it is the basis for offering profitable and competitive projects from the plant. Our goal is clear: turning the lighting production in Lippstadt into a benchmark in terms of quality and productivity in manufacturing the most innovative headlamps," says Yves Andres.
From 13 to 17 May 2024, the international automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA will be presenting the latest lighting and electronic products for municipal vehicles at IFAT, the trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management (hall C5, stand 404).
A highlight at the FORVIA HELLA stand is the LED combination headlamp C240. It combines all important light functions such as low beam, high beam, position light and direction indicator and, for the first time, daytime running light in a single headlamp. Previously, manufacturers had to retrofit separate modules for the daytime running light. This is no longer necessary. It also offers the option of engraving the company logo in the centre of the headlamp. "The LED combination headlamp therefore fulfils the growing demand from manufacturers to bring their brand identity to the road," says Christian Mergenmeier, who is responsible for sales in the municipal vehicle customer segment at FORVIA HELLA.
At the FORVIA HELLA stand at IFAT, even more options for vehicle customisation will be on display. For example, the Bi-LED low beam and high beam headlamp SlimLine, the first angular module in the portfolio. The headlamp combines low beam and high beam in one module. The special highlight: by attaching a coloured and differently shaped bezel, an unmistakable and completely individual appearance is created in no time at all. The LED combination lamp CircLED 90 also offers a modern look, as the various light functions such as daytime running light, position light and direction indicator light can be combined in different ways.
In addition to design, safety also plays an important role. After all, municipal vehicles must be clearly visible in road traffic at all times. For this reason, FORVIA HELLA is exhibiting the reversing lamp from the Power Beam S-series at the trade fair. With its light output of 1,000 lumens, it ensures safe manoeuvring even in the dark. It also makes work easier, as the daylight-like light is distributed homogeneously and widely in the rear working and manoeuvring area.
The work lamps in the S-series, such as Power Beam, Modul 70 and Ultra Beam, also ensure safe and comfortable working. The homogeneous illumination, high light performance and specially developed reflector design ensure optimum working light. In addition, the work lamps will soon also be available as a Black Edition, i.e. in a black design, thus meeting the increased design requirements.

The international automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA has developed a pioneering concept for a headlamp that combines sustainability, high performance and functionality in a cost-neutral way. Over the entire product life cycle, the headlamp designed as part of a pre-development has a CO2 footprint that is up to 70 percent lower; it weighs just two kilograms instead of the conventional about five kilograms. The concept was presented for the first time worldwide at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas at the beginning of the year.
"We want to shape the mobility of the future with product solutions that are both innovative and particularly sustainable, and which benefit customers, consumers as well as the environment," says Yves Andres, who is responsible for FORVIA HELLA's global lighting business as a member of the Management Board. "As a technology leader, we therefore also want to be a frontrunner with regard to our lighting products and take another significant step towards a circular economy. We have therefore designed a near-series headlamp that impressively demonstrates the possibilities of harmonising sustainability and performance without having to compromise on safety and comfort."
The "Sustainable Headlamp" concept developed by FORVIA HELLA is essentially based on three basic principles: less, better, longer. Firstly, based on a completely new design principle, significantly fewer components are used, purely decorative components with no function are omitted and replaced by elements that are required for structural purposes. Secondly, materials such as bio-based plastics or recyclates, for example from recycled drinks bottles, are primarily used. A SSL48 light module is integrated. On the one hand, this requires significantly less installation space thanks to a highly efficient optical lens. Thirdly, unlike conventional headlamps, it should also be possible to replace and repair individual parts in order to extend the service life of the headlight and significantly increase the recycling rate of the components used.
Compared to modern LED headlamps on the market, the overall concept of the sustainable headlamps is designed to be cost-neutral and thus to be realised without additional expenses. In particular, the installation of reused components, the reduction in component requirements and the lower overall weight shall offset the cost of higher-quality materials.
