On November 11, 2024, LITEON Technology (2301) signed a Research Collaboration Agreement (RCA) with the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) to jointly advance the collaboration and development of “Innovative Energy-Saving Applications for 5G Network Communications.” This partnership aims to implement energy-saving applications in network deployments, driving more efficient and energy-saving innovative applications for 5G networks. Based on the O-RAN RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) platform architecture, LITEON and SUTD have integrated their key technologies and combined AI and big data analytics to jointly develop a 5G network energy consumption management solution. This solution effectively reduces the energy consumption of wireless access networks (RAN) by 20%, significantly lowering the operational expenses for mobile network operators (MNOs) with dense deployments of 5G small cell base stations. Additionally, the configuration of the network management system further optimizes management and operational processes, ensuring flexible utilization and stable high performance of the network.
“LITEON has long been committed to technological innovation and green resilience, with a particular focus on product performance and smart energy consumption management in the field of 5G network communications. We are honored to have the opportunity to collaborate with SUTD in this endeavor, combining our research capabilities to develop innovative energy-saving solutions for 5G network communications. While enhancing product energy efficiency, we also ensure fast, stable, and excellent network communication performance. We look forward to building a more comprehensive, resilient, and innovative global 5G ecosystem together, facing future challenges and opportunities.” said General Manager of LITEON Technology's Smart Life Applications Business Unit, Richard Chiang.
“We are thrilled to partner LITEON in developing cutting-edge energy-saving and artificial intelligent solutions for 5G Open RAN networks. This collaboration leverages our research capabilities and LITEON's industry expertise to address the critical challenge of reducing energy consumption in future communications. Together, we aim to create a more sustainable and intelligent future for 5G and beyond,” said Director of the Future Communications R&D Program (FCP), SUTD Professor Tony Quek.
