Established in Chesterfield in 1987 as a small family business, Northern Lights has grown into the UK's leading manufacturer of bespoke decorative light fittings. The business has been carefully developed from the craftsmanship of a small team of skilled artisans who started by designing and hand-making various products from stained glass. The business developed quickly from these initial pieces, and within a few short years, the company had transformed into exclusively manufacturing bespoke lighting for the hospitality sector.
Fast forward to the early 2000s, and as demand for bespoke light fittings increased, new skills and crafts were added to the business. The decision was made to purchase larger premises and invest in new state-of-the-art machinery, specialist tooling and paint facilities. With this increased capacity and capability, Northern Lights has developed and has become the leading supplier of truly bespoke light fittings for many of the UK's largest hospitality providers. More recently, Northern Lights has successfully provided its bespoke manufacturing solutions into the premium and high-end areas of the hospitality and residential sectors. We have also further invested in our manufacturing capabilities. Northern Lights is very proud of its in-house manufacturing capability. With this capability in the hands of our talented, creative design team, we can create exquisite bespoke installations and some truly unique collections. Northern Lights has particular expertise in glass techniques, metal fabrication and an extensive range of finishes, all produced in our own facilities.
As of 2020, Northern Lights became part of The National Lighting Company Ltd. As a long-term owner, they have a proven history in developing decorative lighting companies across the UK, Europe, Middle East and the Far East. The expert team at Northern Lights is led by Donna Bruce, who joined the business in the late 1990s. Together with Donna's intrinsic understanding of every aspect of the business and the support from The National Lighting Company Ltd, the vision for the future of Northern Lights is to utilise our creative capabilities further and to push the boundaries of manufacturing to create some of the most iconic luxury bespoke lighting on a global scale.
As a UK lighting manufacturer and member of Made In Britain, our in-house design & manufacturing facility means we have full control at every stage of the process, from conception to delivery. We combine new technology with unrivalled traditional craftsmanship to create truly unique pieces, expertly tailored to each project & scheme.
