OBP is a global, privately held, medical device company that is reinventing the everyday tools that surgeons rely on by integrating single-use LED lighting technology into our single-use devices.
We began more than a decade ago with a focus on developing products that facilitate the transition of minimally invasive procedures historically done in hospitals or operating rooms to office-based settings. As part of this mission, we leveraged advancements in light-emitting diode (LED) technology to pioneer the creation of single-use devices with integrated light sources – a category of products that did not exist previously.
Since then, heightened awareness about the risks of cross-contamination from reusable devices & light sources, an industry need to increase efficiencies, and a desire to have direct illumination in the surgical pocket or cavity has made it possible to expand beyond our initial focus to transform other surgical hand tools into indispensable, single-use cordless illuminated devices.
Throughout our history, OBP has grown and innovated around two guiding principles: maximize clinical efficiency and functionality by developing simple, self-contained products that seamlessly combine light with device, and increase patient safety by making entirely single-use products.
Today, our surgical products are used in surgery centers and hospitals throughout the U.S., as well as healthcare facilities worldwide. Our rapidly expanding surgical portfolio offers the widest range of single-use, self-contained, illuminating products available on the market; collectively, these products address a wide spectrum of call points and use cases including plastic surgery, breast surgery, general surgery, spine surgery, orthopedic surgery, electrophysiology as well as many more.
OBP is an ISO 13485 certified company with a robust quality management system committed to continuous improvement.
Our single-use illuminating medical devices meet and exceed the quality and regulatory requirements for safety and effectiveness in the United States, Canada, European Union and countries around the world.
Our American engineering in combination with the use of high-grade biocompatible materials has yielded us ZERO reportable events related to patient injury since company inception across all of our product lines.
All of our products are injected and assembled in a certified clean-room environment.
