Organic Response from Fagerhult Group is the smart lighting solution that delivers premium lighting experiences, whilst reducing energy consumption, lowering costs and achieving sustainability goals.

Organic Response was established in 2017 following the acquisition of Organic Response’s revolutionary lighting controls technology. Servicing the Fagerhult Group’s global network of companies, the business combines world-class research and development in IoT solutions, intimate customer knowledge and global reach to deliver the integrated smart lighting solutions of the future, today.

Inspired by this idea, Organic Response has developed a completely wireless "plug & play" lighting control system that allows each individual luminaire to make lighting decisions based on the presence of occupants in its immediate vicinity, ambient light levels, and information it recieves from its neighbouring luminaires. It then contribues information back to the luminaire community, so other luminaires can also make more informed lighting decisions.

Although they make decisions individually, Distributed Intelligence means all the lights in a defined space act as a coordinated whole. Just like a school of fish. The result is a highly flexible, energy efficient lighting control system with a compelling proposition to developers, building owners and tenants:

• Organic Response is easy to install. Because the control technology is integrated into light fittings before delivery to the building site, installation is as easy as installing a luminaire. The system is completely Plug & Play, with no additional wiring or commissioning required for the system to operate.
• Once installed, the system is simple to operate, with various control parameters adjustable using a simple smartphone app.
• Organic Response has a rich feature set, delivering highly sophisticated lighting control through motion detection, daylight dimming, and scenes and zones functionality, amongst many others.
• The system has been independently evaluated in multiple installations, showing energy savings of between 56% -78%.

At the heart of this uniquely flexible system is the Sensor Node, which is integrated into each luminaire during assembly within the factory. Once it is Organic Response-enabled, the luminaire is transformed into an intelligent light, ready to adapt and respond to the needs of its users.

In an Organic Response-enabled workspace, the Sensor Nodes constantly collect, store and communicate data about occupancy, luminaire performance and energy consumption. The rich data set that is created can be shared with other building systems, or integrated building networks, through the simple integration. Industry standard building protocols provide simply integration into the smart building ecosystem. Equally, data can be made available to the Organic Response cloud-hosted software platform, The OR Portal, where a data analytics engine can generate deeper workplace insights.
