Side marker lights are mounted as near as practical at the front and rear on both sides of a vehicle to define the overall length of the vehicle. Forward side marker lights should be an amber color. Rearward side marker lights emit red light. Intermediate side marker lights in an amber color should be mounted on the side of the vehicle at or near the midpoint between the forward and the rearward side marker lights on all passenger cars, multipurpose passenger vehicles (MPV), trucks, buses, and trailers that are 30 feet or longer.
