SPI Lighting Holdings, LLC is a leading designer and manufacturer of American made architectural and performance luminaires.
In the 1970’s, Alan Ruud founded SPI Lighting. Ruud later sold it to McGraw-Edison, which became part of Cooper Industries. In 1987, Lee A. Doerr, Jr. purchased SPI Lighting from Cooper Industries with the vision of building upon the company’s reputation as a pioneer of high-efficiency indirect lighting.
The company grew rapidly in the following years, significantly expanding its manufacturing facilities, office personnel, and product line – most prominently with the acquisition of the architectural lighting company, Advent Lighting, in 1999.
In the decades that followed, SPI Lighting continued to innovate with energy-efficient LEDs and became well known for its product innovation, factory flexibility, and custom capabilities.
SPI Lighting may be located in the Midwest, but we are a forerunner in the commercial lighting industry. Our range of products includes everything from aesthetic and powerful architectural designs, to full-scale performance and asymmetric systems that give off impressive amounts of light, to contemporary lighting solutions which include linear runs and discrete pendants.
Everything is made here in our Mequon, WI facility. What does this mean for you? It means our fixtures are manufactured and assembled locally, so project lead times are shorter than our competitors'. This means your project will be installed in your job site much sooner. Not only that, but we can give you a huge palette of paint, fabric, and anodized finishes to choose from.
So many of our products bridge the gap between form and function it's difficult to classify them as one or the other. Though this may be a struggle for us, it's convenient for you. It ensures you will receive a product that incorporates solid construction, extraordinary design, and impressive functionality.
If you're still not convinced we have everything you could possibly need, contact our YD Custom Division and get something created completely from scratch and unique to your needs. A real one-of-a-kind fixture, or set of fixtures.
Remember, our products are just the beginning of a conversation. So contact us for your next lighting job!
